Another Rock Magazine cover. This time it is from my trip to Queensland where I photographed John J O’Brien on his Ill Gotten Gains (26), an unlikely and very cool looking arete, two pitches up Mount Cooroora on the Sunshine Coast.
Our calendar for 2013 is out and I’m stoked with the result again this year!
The marketing departments word is below. If you are thinking about getting a copy then don’t wait, we’ve cut the print run fine this year and there’s a good chance we’ll sell out.
This is the 19th annual calendar to showcase the work of World-renowned climbing photographer Simon Carter.
Seamlessly merging action and landscape, the dazzling imagery inspires and captivates climbers across the globe.
Features climbing destinations from Australia, China, France, New Zealand, Spain, UK, USA and Vietnam.
The design is stylish and functional and includes international holiday dates and moon phases.
Presented in a large 30 x 30cm format, shrink-wrapped and stiffened for protection. Opens to 30 x 60cm (12 x 24″).
Update: we have now sold out of the 2013 calendar!
If you’d like to know which Australian retailers may still have it in stock in your area, please email us with your location.
Each year the German magazine Klettern publish a massive poster sized wall calendar and most years I get a few shots in there. For 2013 I’ve scored the cover again and few inside shots. The calendar is huge! I don’ know it works out with the postage but if you live in Europe it may not be to bad, you can get it from there shop here.
I’ve been on the road again; this time a quick trip to Arapiles and The Grampians. More on that soon, but in the meantime the June issue of Klettern Magazine has turned up and I’m happy to have got another cover with Monique styling on that crazy tufa route in Verdon Gorge. Sweet!
I’ve scored some covers recently. Firstly, here is the 2012 issue of Ascent. Very stoked about this one!
Ascent is Rock and Ice magazine’s mega annual. It is the original literary journal of climbing, conceived of and edited for many years by Steck and Roper. Rock and Ice rejuvenated the journal last year — and I scored the cover then as well. I’m reposting that again here because I don’t know if we’ll ever get my old blog database up and running again… Anyway, I’m really honoured to have my work appear here. Thanks Rock and Ice!
Had a really nice write up — and double-page spread — in the Weekend Australian Magazine. Sweet!
This is what it says:
Talking about recently published work, here’s a few shots in Klettern Magazine’s (Germany) poster format 2012 wall calendar.
The team at Climb Magazine (UK) have been producing a fantastic magazine of late and have kicked off the new year with their first ever Photo Annual, or “Photographic Issue” to be precise. Well, I’m hoping it’s going to be an annual thing anyway. Judging by the digital preview on their website (which you can see here) it’s looking good with lots of interesting articles. There is also an interview with yours truly.
I haven’t seen the actual magazine yet but it has a great cover.  I think the black and white works well. The shot of Crystal Davis on El Matador (5.10d) at Devils Tower, was taken using my special camera apparatus thingy to get the angle — more on that coming soon, promise!
My interview was by Ian Parnell, no slouch with a camera himself. Thanks Ian, for the opportunity to share some of my thoughts. And thanks to my assistant Cathy McBey, for shooting my portrait for this (not really a self-portrait as credited – now that would have been tricky!).
I’m looking forward to checking out everything else in the mag as soon as it arrives. Come on Australia Post!
