Mount Brown mega-route   ·  15 March 2009

I’ve been busy lately doing a lot of shooting for various projects and clients. Right now I’m in Tasmania and on Friday hiked out to Mount Brown on the Tasman Peninsular with Garry Phillips and Jake Bresnehan to photograph the new 10 pitch mega-route there: Talk is Cheap, 210 metres (grade 24), which Garry recently established with Simon Young. It must be one of the highest sea-cliff routes in Australia.

Shooting it was fair bit of work — with the hike and fixing 200m of rope — but it’s an awesome spot and showed me another special part of the Tasman Peninsular that I hadn’t yet seen. Garry and Jake are super talented and motivated climbers and were real work horses on the day. Thanks fellas! Here’s a few shots — and yeah, I’m holding back on showing my favorites… for now.

Abseiling in.

And Jake leading pitch two.

One of the (many) cruxes.

Where Jake found a no-hands rest!

Go gadget arms…

Leading pitch three.
