Quick one for you this week.

This weeks pics are from a super fast trip I did to the Grampians back in June. I’ve been holding onto them until the time was right and that time is now because one of the images features on the cover of the World Climbing Calendar 2018 which I’m announcing today. You saw it all here first.

I first learnt about the Clean Cuts crag when we were working on the update of the Grampians Guidebook a few years ago. The crag, which is situated close to Eureka Wall in the Victoria Range, has about 26 routes, several of which are very good. Thanks to Adam Demmert for the inspiration, he kindly provided us with a photo of this route to use in the guidebook and I must admit and it certainly got me thinking… It’s not often that something new comes along where the position and elements potentially line up in such a spectacular way. A bit like Kachoong at Arapiles, it wasn’t hard to see how this one will likely become a popular target for photographers. So I thought about how I’d like to shoot this route in my own way. The angle, composition, light and action were some of the ingredients that I knew would be important to pull off this shot. Last year was too busy with too many projects but this year it was to be. After waiting for weeks, weather windows and schedules finally aligned. And thanks to the talented and impressive efforts of Ashlee and Liz, who are tough nuts (it was a darn site colder than it looks in the pics), it all came together in a whirl. Stoked! How good is the Grampians eh!?

And so we have the World Climbing Calendar 2018 at the printers now and will soon ship; it’ll be available worldwide in two weeks. I’m proud to say that once again this calendar is a collaboration with some of the world’s best climbing photographers. We have worked with them and selected their very best work with a focus on dream routes that tackle incredible rock architecture. The result, I believe, is an authentic, truly spectacular celebration of climbing. Best yet? Well you be the judge of that but I most definitely think that it is. Get all the info, preview it, and pre-order it now from HERE and we’ll ship all orders as soon as we receive the stock. We can ship to anywhere but that page also has links to our overseas distributors.

Hope you like the new pics (yes, they are available as prints).

More soon!
